  1. Welcome to AppleEase
  2. ====================
  3. AppleEase is a set of two system 7 utilities (AppleEaseIn & AppleEaseOut). They are a complementary pair that make dealing with System 7's AppleMenu much easer.

  5. These utilities are things that I personally found a need for I hope you will also.

  7. AppleEaseIn 
  8. ===========
  9. If you drag an application or document onto the AppleEaseIn Icon (I keep mine on the desktop next to the trash) an Alias of the file will Appear in the Apple Menu. If you hold down the <option> key while dragging the file to the AppleEaseIn icon the original file will go to Apple Menu. (NOTE: this will not work across disks, if you want the original file to go to the Apple Menu it must be on the startup volume)
  10. (OTHER NOTE: if you drag an alias to the AppleEaseIn icon and hold down the <option> key THE ORIGINAL FILE will go to the Apple Menu NOT THE ALIAS)

  12. AppleEaseOut
  13. ============
  14. AppleEaseOut is an INIT (Er, thats Extension in Apple's newspeak) so in order to use it you must load it into the Extensions folder (inside the system folder) and restart your macintosh. With AppleEaseOut installed you can select an item from the AppleMenu with the <option> key pressed and it will be removed from the AppleMenu out to the Desktop.

  18. Version 1.0 was released on October 7 th 1991
  19. Version 1.1 fixed the AppleEaseIn Desktop positioning bug.
  20. Version 1.2 fixed all known AppleEaseOut bugs that caused it to not load properly
  21. Version 1.3 AppleEase now works with Folders & Disks. AppleEaseOut now works from within any program not just Finder.

  25. While I retain the rights to AppleEaseIn & AppleEaseOut these utilities are absolutely free to any individual.  All I ask is that you let me know what you think of AppleEase.
  26. Any educational institution or business can use them as long as they inform me that they are doing so.

  32. AppleEaseIn & AppleEaseOut can be freely distributed as long as they are kept together and this document is included  with them. (If you want to distribute them as part of a PD/SW package please inform me that you are doing so)
